Dave's Gone Loopy!
On Australia Day, 26 January 2025, Superintendent David Scutchings APM broke a Guinness World Record for most consecutive loops in a flight by glider. The previous record was 24 and Dave, alongside his son Max, managed to complete 45 loops!
In conjunction with this challenge, Dave has been working hard to reach a fundraising target of $20,000 for SA Police Legacy. He is so close to reaching his goal but needs your help!
Below is the reason 'Why' Dave took on this challenge.
“As I approach my 50th birthday, I have been undertaking a ‘50 weeks of 50’ challenge – each week see’s me doing something memorable, challenging and unique. This led me to an attempt to break the Guinness World Record for the most consecutive loops in a flight – currently 26.
Aviation has been my passion since I was a teenager. I have been privileged to fly gliders, aeroplanes and also spent more than 12 years flying in the police helicopter. More recently I have returned to flying gliders and the towplane at the Adelaide Soaring Club at Gawler. As an experienced manager in SAPOL I am acutely aware of the critical role that SA Police Legacy play in supporting our members and consequently I have chosen to utilise the world record attempt to support SA Police Legacy.”
