SA Police Legacy is a charitable organisation dedicated to supporting the families of South Australian police officers who have died, been seriously injured, or are facing significant hardship. Their work ensures that partners, children, and dependants of police officers are never left to navigate life’s toughest moments alone. Through financial assistance, education grants, wellbeing programs, and ongoing community support, SA Police Legacy stands beside the policing family long after the sirens stop.

I created The Longest Beat to honour the people behind the badge—those who serve, those we’ve lost, and the families who carry the weight of that service every day. Policing is demanding, unpredictable, and often invisible to the wider community. I wanted to build something that not only raises funds, but also shines a light on the resilience, sacrifice, and humanity within our profession. The Longest Beat is my way of turning endurance into purpose: a challenge that symbolises the long, unbroken commitment police officers make to their communities.

I take part because this cause is personal. As a serving member of SAPOL, I’ve seen firsthand the impact that tragedy and hardship can have on police families. I’ve also seen how SA Police Legacy steps in with compassion, stability, and practical support when it’s needed most. Participating in The Longest Beat is my way of giving back—of honouring colleagues, supporting their loved ones, and reinforcing the message that none of us stand alone. Every kilometre, every hour, every effort is for the families who deserve our ongoing care.
